Jamtara, known as India's cybercrime capital, has an intriguing story behind its emergence as a hub for cybercrime. Located in Jharkhand, this small district with a population of 791,042 (as per the 2011 census) faces economic challenges, relying on agriculture and small-scale industries. Many residents struggle with seasonal unemployment and low income. However, with digitization and exposure to new technologies, some individuals discovered ways to earn money from home through cybercrime. Initially, they engaged in mobile voucher scams, but as time passed, they explored more sophisticated methods, including cyber fraud.
