Pahalagam Attack and the Question of U.S Duality : India's Firm stand Against Terrorism

The recent Pahalgam attack once again exposed the duality in the United States' approach towards terrorism. India has consistently made its position clear to the global community: terrorism in any form is unacceptable and must be dealt with firmly.

In the aftermath of the attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam, India unequivocally communicated its stance to Pakistan, asserting that it will not tolerate any form of terrorism. Operation Sindoor is a testament to India's resolve, as it launched a swift and aggressive response. This serves as a loud and clear warning to Pakistan: if it continues to engage in such nefarious activities, India will not hesitate to retaliate.

India has been fighting its battle against terrorism for decades, striving to shape a global narrative that urges all nations to stand together in solidarity against terror. While the U.S. has often declared a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and vowed to act decisively against rogue states, its muted response to the Pahalgam attack raises serious concerns.

Despite being aware of Pakistan’s involvement, the U.S. refrained from directly condemning the act and instead advised India to resolve the issue through dialogue. This silence is telling—and troubling. It suggests that the U.S. is playing a double game, balancing its strategic interests with Pakistan while ignoring the cost in human lives and regional stability.

India now recognizes this duplicity and understands that it must rely on its own strength, strategy, and diplomacy to protect its national interests. While international cooperation remains important, India must prioritize its own security and pursue an independent path in its fight against terrorism.
